About Us
Betty Gets Hitched is an appointment-based bridal boutique in Muswell Hill, North London. We stock a carefully curated edit of off-the-peg designer wedding dresses and our own label collections, alongside in-house bridal alterations and a made-to-order dressmaking service. We're a small, boutique operation - every bride gets a personal, considered experience, and we need an experienced bridal seamstress and fitter to join our team.
Please Note
This is not a training position. With bridal season in full swing, we need someone who can get stuck into a busy, live alterations workload from day one and work independently with minimal supervision.
The Role
This is a hands-on bridal alterations role with a high volume of work ready to get started on immediately. Alongside working through our alterations pipeline, you'll also assist with style modifications and the making of dresses from our couture range. You'll be working directly with brides across all stages of their fittings journey - from first fitting through to final collection.
What You'll Be Doing
- Working through a varied alterations workload across a range of wedding dresses and styles
- Conducting one-to-one bridal fittings with clients, ensuring every bride achieves the perfect fit
- Carrying out style modifications as requested, including structural alterations, design changes, and fabric manipulation
- Making dresses from our in-house couture range to client specifications and samples for our collection
- Maintaining clear records of each bride's alterations, measurements, and fitting notes
- Keeping a professional, organised workspace in line with our boutique standards
What We're Looking For
- Proven, extensive experience in bridal alterations - essential
- Confident with both intricate hand sewing and machine sewing
- Solid knowledge of bridal fabrics and garment construction, including various satins, crepe, lace, tulle and embellished fabrics
- A calm, professional and friendly manner with clients - you'll be working closely with brides at an important and emotional time
- Comfortable assisting brides with styling their wedding day look and trying on accessories such as veils, headpieces and jewellery
- Able to work independently and manage your own workload across fitting appointments without close supervision
- Couture or bespoke dressmaking experience strongly preferred

- 1-2 days per week, flexible on which days
- Based at our Muswell Hill studio
- Freelance basis
- £18–£20 per hour (depending on skillset and experience)
