About Encortec
Encortec is a University of Exeter spin-out developing self-powered, low-power IoT monitoring systems for industrial assets and critical infrastructure. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Energy Harvesting or Mechatronics Engineer to develop and optimise our energy-harvesting technologies.
The Role
The focus of this role is:
- Vibration energy harvesting for industrial assets
- Electromagnetic field energy harvesting for electrified railways
- Mechanical and mechatronic system design
- CAD design and mechanical prototyping
- COMSOL finite-element modelling and simulation
- Hands-on prototype development and testing
- Experimental validation and performance optimisation
- Integration with power electronics and energy storage
You will work closely with our engineering team and external manufacturing partner.
Essential Experience
- 3+ years' engineering work experience
- Hands-on experience with mechatronic/electromechanical systems
- Mechanical design, CAD and prototyping
- COMSOL Multiphysics / FEM
- Experience designing, building and testing prototypes
- Experience with vibration or electromagnetic energy harvesting
- Strong experimental and problem-solving skills
The Person
We are looking for a practical engineer who can demonstrate:
design → CAD → modelling → simulation → prototype → test → optimisation
and deliver measurable improvements to real systems.
Regular on-site work in Exeter is required.
