Pay Rates
- Weekday evenings (17:30-20:30): £16.31 per hour
- Saturdays (09:00-17:00): £20.39 per hour
Join our Enhanced Access team and help deliver preventative care to patients across Winchester.
We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) or General Practice Assistant (GPA) to support the delivery of NHS Health Check clinics as part of our Enhanced Access service.
This is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in identifying cardiovascular risk factors, supporting preventative healthcare, and improving patient outcomes across our local population.

The Role
You will support the delivery of a structured NHS Health Check pathway, including:
- Phlebotomy appointments (where trained)
- NHS Health Check appointments
- Clinical observations
- Patient engagement and health promotion
- Accurate data recording using clinical systems
- Clinic preparation and administrative support
You will work within a supportive PCN team with well-established processes and clear guidance.
Hours Available
We can offer regular contracted hours through our Enhanced Access service, with shifts available on:
- Weekday evenings: 17:30-20:30
- Saturdays: 09:00-17:00
- Shorter Saturday shifts may be considered for the right candidate
To support service delivery, we are looking for applicants who can commit to regular working patterns. We would prefer to offer permanent contracts, with agreed hours that may be weekly, fortnightly, or monthly, depending on availability and service needs.
What You'll Do
- Phlebotomy (where trained)
- NHS Health Check appointments, using the Ardens template, including:
- Clinical observations
- Data recording and administration
- Patient engagement and health promotion
- Preparing and setting up clinics
- Working independently within established protocols
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good IT skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Experience working in a patient-facing healthcare, care, wellbeing, or support role
- Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care
Desirable
- Healthcare Assistant (HCA) experience
- Primary care experience
- NHS experience
- Phlebotomy skills
- EMIS experience
- NHS Health Check experience
- Health promotion or lifestyle advice experience
Phlebotomy experience is highly desirable but not essential.
HCA experience is strongly preferred; however, applicants with relevant transferable skills and experience from healthcare, care, wellbeing, community, or other patient-facing roles will also be considered.
