Maintenance Operative – The Memoir Club
At The Memoir Club Hotel, we come together as one team to create memorable experiences for our guests. We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Operative to join our team and help maintain our building to the highest standards.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out general repairs, installations, and ongoing upkeep of our hotel’s interior and exterior spaces. Your day-to-day will include basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, decorating, tiling, and general DIY tasks. You will be vital to ensuring our property remains safe, comfortable, and welcoming for all.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation inspections, fault diagnosis, repairs, and maintenance on building fixtures and fittings.
- Complete general plumbing tasks such as fixing taps, toilets, and pipework (PVC or copper).
- Carry out carpentry jobs including door fitting, furniture assembly, lock replacements, window adjustments, and boxing in.
- Execute painting, decorating, tiling (walls/floors), and flooring work including laying carpet tiles.
- Conduct regular checks on both private and public areas and respond to maintenance requests.
· Complete regular machinery testing and maintenance on the hotel machines and equipment.
- Ensure health & safety compliance and identify potential hazards or required repairs.
- Maintain accurate documentation and report to the Line Manager.
- Support the team with planned tasks and contribute to efficient team operations.
· Responding to maintenance emergency calls from all departments.
Working Hours
- The business operates Monday to Sunday, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
- Your normal working pattern will be five (5) days out of seven (7), as scheduled by your manager.
- Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the business, and you may be required to work additional hours or undertake other duties as reasonably necessary.
What We are Looking For
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar maintenance or facilities role.
- Skilled in DIY, general maintenance, and basic gardening.
- Solid knowledge of building tools, safety regulations, and codes of practice.
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
- Friendly, approachable, and “can-do” attitude.
- Committed to excellent customer service and teamwork.
Special Conditions
- Occasional overtime or travel may be required.
- You must be eligible to live and work in the UK and provide valid documentation.
