An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Unscheduled Care Team as Senior Mental Health Practitioner providing clinical leadership to a team of clinicians. The unscheduled care service provides a rapid, robust and extended multi-agency crisis response that includes prompt assessment, liaison, consultation, training and where appropriate intensive time limited interventions for children and young people up to the age of 18, who are experiencing an acute mental health and/or psycho-social crisis.
We are looking to recruit highly experienced, registered practitioner with extensive clinical knowledge and skill within CAMH crisis services. We would welcome skills and experience in clinical leadership and enhanced clinical decision making when working with young people and families with complex difficulties. The post holder will provide formal and informal clinical supervision to colleagues and act as an initial point of escalation for clinical matters as appropriate. There will be an ‘on call’ requirement within this post that will aim to cover the hours of operation with senior leadership to colleagues.
The post holder will undertake assessments within A+E, paediatric wards and other community settings to support the provision of a rapid crisis response in the least restrictive way, but also consistent with identified needs, to ensure the safety of the young person safety and others.
In addition, you will provide clinical formulation, identifying the young person’s and family’s needs, offer liaison, consultation and brief intervention where required to facilitate safe discharge and support care planning across partner agencies. The post holder will be required to work flexibly as the service develops towards a 24-hour provision.
The post holder will be a part of a multi-disciplinary unscheduled care service, working with young people who are experiencing a mental health and/or psycho-social crisis, whereby hospital admission is a strong possibility, but can be safely supported at home or within another community setting.
The post holder will provide urgent assessment and brief intervention and / or specific evidence based therapies to children and young people with mental health problems and significant mental health disorders. To support parents, carers and front line professionals in understanding and supporting the child / young person through providing education, advice and direction on how to manage the condition.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
