The Hamptons Care Home is a privately-run residential care home looking for a genuine interest in working within a caring environment to become our chef. There is one role available.
Shift: 7.30 am - 4 pm, 5 days over 7. So one weekend on and one weekend off.
Role Outline:
- Recognising the important role that food and taste have in enhancing our residents’ lives
- Taking care to cater for residents’ individual dietary needs and preferences
- Creatively preparing nutritious, appetising and well-presented dishes at every mealtime
Job Description:
- Create weekly menus for the day-to-day meals of the home. A three-week menu plan must be made available to the residents. These menus must be of a well-balanced diet, and the exact description of food must be given (this isn’t always possible)
- Prepare and cook all meals required at the scheduled outlined times and ensure the kitchen and preparation areas are left tidy.
- Understand the importance of making adjustments to food items to accommodate any allergies or specific dietary requirements
- Complete a record of the routine cleaning in the kitchen area, as per the home’s cleaning schedule
- Clean food preparation and storage areas, all kitchen equipment, including cooker and tray rack, as determined by law and company policy/cleaning schedule.
- Keep a check on the cleanliness and defrosting of freezers and fridges. Fridges are to be cleaned daily, and freezers defrosted as the cleaning schedule dictates or is necessary.
- Record temperatures twice daily of fridges and once daily on the freezers
- Record the temperature of food before service and ensure it has reached the correct temperature
- Ensure stock is rotated accordingly and notify the administrator of any requirements
- Awareness of and responsibilities to the Environmental Health Acts
Essentials:
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels and be a team player
- Has knowledge of nutritional value in food for the elderly
- Has previous experience working in the care setting
- Holds a current Food Hygiene certificate
- Has a satisfactory DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check and Adult First
