The Role
We are looking for an experienced Site Operations Manager to take ownership of day-to-day operations and help lead the business through its next phase of growth.
This is a hands-on leadership role within a live production environment. You will manage the current operational team, strengthen systems and routines, improve consistency, and help build the structure needed as the site expands.
The role would suit someone who has managed a factory, farm, food production site, horticultural operation, FMCG environment, animal production system, composting site, recycling operation, or similar practical production environment.
You do not need previous insect farming experience. We are more interested in strong operational discipline, good people management, practical judgement, and the ability to build reliable systems in a growing business.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
- Managing day-to-day site operations across production, processing, staff, equipment, and facilities
- Ensuring production, quality, safety, biosecurity, and regulatory standards are consistently met
- Supporting daily and weekly production planning
- Managing, coaching, and developing the operational team
- Helping recruit, onboard, and train new team members as the business grows
- Developing clear roles, responsibilities, routines, and standard operating procedures
- Identifying operational issues early and following them through to resolution
- Improving process consistency, equipment uptime, labour efficiency, and site organisation
- Introducing practical systems and performance measures without unnecessary complexity
- Working with senior management to support operational growth within agreed budgets and priorities
- Maintaining clean, organised, safe, and compliant working environments

Success in this role will mean:
- Daily operations are stable, organised, and well controlled
- The team understands what good looks like and works to clear standards
- Core processes are documented, followed, and improved over time
- Production planning, communication, and accountability improve across the site
- Operational problems are identified earlier and resolved more consistently

About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Practical, hands-on, and comfortable being visible within operations
- Experienced in managing people in a production, farming, factory, or similar environment
- Calm under pressure and able to prioritise effectively
- Methodical, organised, and detail-focused
- Comfortable holding people to standards while maintaining trust and morale
- A good problem solver who listens, understands issues, and follows things through
- Able to introduce structure without overcomplicating things
- Motivated by long-term improvement
- Interested in sustainability, agriculture, animal welfare, and building a good place to work
Formal qualifications are not essential. Relevant practical experience and the ability to manage people, systems, machinery, and production standards are more important.
