Are you highly organised, commercially aware and confident working with cost data, project information and technical documentation? We're looking for an Assistant Costing Manager to support the delivery of accurate cost plans, estimates and tender submissions across development, refurbishment and Building Improvement Programme (BIP) projects.
Working closely with the Senior Costing Manager and project teams, you'll help assess project costs, identify value engineering opportunities, support tender activities and provide reliable commercial information to aid decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing cost plans, estimates and pricing information for a range of construction and refurbishment projects.
- Review drawings, specifications and project documentation to identify costs, risks and opportunities.
- Produce detailed cost breakdowns, including labour, materials, plant and subcontractor packages.
- Support value engineering initiatives and cost-effective design solutions.
- Prepare pricing enquiries and liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations.
- Contribute to tender submissions, analysis and recommendation processes.
- Maintain accurate cost records, reports and project information.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support pre-construction and project planning activities.
About You
You'll have strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You should be comfortable analysing technical information, managing multiple priorities and working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners. Experience in estimating, costing, quantity surveying or a related construction environment would be advantageous, along with a willingness to learn and develop your commercial expertise.
