Due to continued growth, we are looking for an Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller to join our finance team within our headquarters in Hurst, just outside Reading
The role
Reporting to the Financial Controller and having responsibility for a ledger in the region of £1m, with over 400 active clients, the key tasks of the Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller will include, but not be limited to the following:
Key responsibilities
- Send invoices and paperwork if required, to clients via email or portals.
- Raise contractual invoices.
- Process credit note requests.
- File client remittance advices.
- Reconcile client payments in Sage to the remittances.
- Send monthly client account statements.
- Chase overdue accounts via telephone, email and letter in accordance with the credit control policy.
- Respond to queries received in the accounts inbox.
- Update client credit control communications records.
- Update and distribute the aged debtor report on a weekly basis.
- Process employee expense claims in time for the monthly payroll.
- Process employee business mileage claims on a monthly basis.
- Collate twice-monthly supplier payments and send remittance advices to suppliers.
- Complete the Account Managers monthly meeting templates.
- Support the Financial Controller with additional tasks as required.
About you
- Have previous experience within an accounts / credit control role.
- Have good communication skills and be confident on the phone.
- Have good problem solving, numerical and excel skills.
- Have experience of using Sage 50.
- Be highly organised and able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Have AAT Level 2 and 3 qualifications (or be studying towards), or equivalent.
