Overview
We are seeking a motivated, dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our legal team. The successful candidate will be an experienced paralegal/case worker with strong administrative and organisational skills. You will join a busy department focussing on bringing private prosecutions and undertaking work for state prosecutors who instruct the practice to undertake work nationwide. The practice has a strong reputation for delivering excellent outcomes for clients in this niche field and we are looking for someone who will recognise and work to build and enhance that reputation.
Duties
- Assist solicitors in preparing cases for court, identifying and complying with court directions.
- Organise and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Analyse case information to identify relevant facts and legal issues
- Liaise with client organisations, defence teams, witnesses, courts, and external agencies to gather information and schedule appointments
- Manage administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and handling correspondence
- Support the team during court proceedings by organising exhibits and documentation as required
- Ensure compliance with legal procedures and organisational policies
Qualifications
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently
- Strong analysis skills to interpret legal documents and case data accurately
- Previous administrative experience, ideally within a legal or professional setting
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients and external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- A recognised qualification in paralegal studies (CILEX) is desirable but not essential
- IT literate; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential and experience with legal integrated software packages is preferred
