GOLF. PIZZA. VIBES.
That's Slice. Oxford's first indoor golf simulator bar — Trackman bays, interactive darts, a properly stocked bar, and New York-style pizza that holds its own against all of it. We're based in Botley and we've had a strong start. Now we need someone to own the kitchen.
THE ROLE
This is a Head Chef position with real operational weight behind it. You'll lead service, manage a growing kitchen team, and take full ownership of how the kitchen runs — stock control, ordering, supplier relationships, food costs, wastage, GP, and hygiene compliance. All of it.
Our food is built around 18-inch NY-style pizza slices and a unique selection of rotating bar snacks and small plates. It's not overcomplicated, but it needs to be executed well, consistently, at pace — whether it's a quiet weekday lunch or a fully booked Saturday night.
You'll work directly with the founders and have genuine input into where the menu goes — refining what's working, introducing specials, and developing the food offering as we grow.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Kitchen operations — leading daily service, maintaining food quality and presentation standards, building rotas and ensuring the kitchen is properly staffed across a full week's service.
Your team — recruiting, training and developing kitchen staff, and creating a collaborative culture where high standards are just how things are done.
The numbers — full ownership of stock management and ordering, supplier negotiations, food cost monitoring, wastage reduction and GP performance.
Food safety — maintaining full compliance with food hygiene and health & safety requirements. Level 2 Food Hygiene minimum, higher preferred.
The menu — evolving our pizza and small plates offering over time, balancing quality, speed and profitability.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
A strong kitchen leader. You might be a Head Chef ready for a new challenge, or an ambitious Sous Chef ready to step up. Either way, you'll bring solid experience managing a kitchen team, a sharp understanding of food margins and stock control, and standards that don't slip when it gets busy.
Pizza experience is a bonus. The ability to run a tight, well-organised kitchen is not optional.
WHAT YOU GET
- £35,000 – £40,000 depending on experience
- Real ownership of the kitchen from day one
- A team to recruit and build yourself
- Genuine input into the menu and kitchen systems
- Staff benefits and discounts
- Clear progression as Slice grows
- The chance to be part of one of Oxford's most talked-about new venues
The role is primarily evenings and weekends, with responsibility for building and managing a team to cover the full week's service.
