The Role: Assistant Branch Manager
We are seeking an ambitious and driven Assistant Branch Manager to join our team at our Swansea branch. This is a key leadership role within the branch, supporting the Branch Manager in delivering strong sales performance, operational excellence, and outstanding customer service.
You will play a vital part in driving growth, motivating the team, and maintaining PHC’s reputation for quality, expertise, and dependable service.
Key Responsibilities Sales & Customer Service
- Support and drive branch sales targets across heating, plumbing, and electrical product ranges
- Build and maintain strong relationships with trade and contractor customers
- Provide confident technical advice and product solutions
- Handle customer queries, complaints, and returns professionally and efficiently
- Actively promote new products, supplier initiatives, and special offers
Branch Operations
- Assist in the day-to-day running of the branch, ensuring smooth and efficient operations
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company procedures
- Support stock control, ordering, merchandising, and stock rotation
- Monitor pricing, margins, and overall branch profitability
- Deputise for the Branch Manager in their absence
Team Leadership
- Support the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of branch staff
- Motivate and coach the team to achieve sales targets and service KPIs
- Assist with staff rotas, performance reviews, and daily supervision
- Lead by example with a hands-on, customer-focused approach
Administration & Reporting
- Assist with sales reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis
- Ensure accurate processing of orders, invoices, and credit notes
- Support cash handling and banking procedures
Experience & Skills Required
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within a plumbing and heating merchant (essential)
- Electrical trade counter experience (preferred)
- Strong sales background with trade customers
- Supervisory or leadership experience desirable
- Commercially aware, organised, and detail-focused
- Confident communicator with a proactive, hands-on attitude
41.3 hours a week Monday-Friday and every third Saturday Morning
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From £29,000.00 per year
