The Role
As a Vehicle Technician / Workshop Controller, you'll combine technical expertise with workshop leadership, ensuring all servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs are completed efficiently and safely.
You'll be responsible for planning workshop activity, supporting technicians, carrying out advanced diagnostics, and maintaining maximum vehicle availability across the fleet.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop planning, scheduling, and job allocation
Carrying out advanced diagnostics and fault finding
Supporting and mentoring technicians
Monitoring workshop productivity and efficiency
Quality checking completed repairs
Managing servicing, inspections, and MOT preparation
Ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance standards
Controlling downtime and maximising fleet availability
Managing parts requirements and workshop resources
Maintaining accurate workshop records and documentation

Essential Requirements
Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualification (or equivalent)
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
Previous workshop or team leadership experience
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Full UK Driving Licence
Passion for delivering high-quality workmanship
Desirable
Workshop Controller experience
Fleet, LCV or mixed fleet experience
Health & Safety knowledge
Experience using workshop management systems
