Engineer Technician (with Degree sponsorship) - Full-time, South Wales, UK
£30-35K salary PLUS a 100% funded degree worth up to £30K (no student fees)
We are seeking an experienced and part-qualified Engineering Technician familiar with Electrical and Electronics to join our dynamic engineering manufacturing team in Cardiff. Maybe of interest to an electronics engineer apprentice looking for progression.
This in-person, paid position offers an excellent opportunity for someone with a few years' practical engineering experience, who is part-qualified up to BTEC Level 3 or HNC/HND level looking for a career opportunity in South Wales with a global company who will sponsor them* to fully qualify with a BEng Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (BEng) part time day release (fully funded).
The role involves supporting various engineering projects, gaining practical experience in analysis, electronics and system optimisation, and contributing to innovative product development initiatives.
Duties
- Participate in Continuous Improvement training, learning to apply Lean tools such as root cause analysis and 5S to help improve quality and performance and support a continuous improvement culture through offering suggestions, validating and implementing the improvements.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on system engineering tasks, including system integration and optimisation.
- Maintain and help develop production data dashboards.

Essential
- 5 years practical experience within an electronics manufacturer
- Min of 2 A-levels including Maths or a BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering or HNC/HND and relevant electronics engineering
- Min of 5 GCSEs grade A to C
- Must have practical experience working in the electronics industry with soldering skills,wiring, understanding electronic schematics and validation skills. Requires practical electronics, soldering, wiring, understanding electronic schematics and validation skills.
- Requires practical electronics prototype, build and electronics test skills (able to assemble PCBs)
- An understanding of Lean continuous improvement useful.

- Strong analytical skills
- Good communication skills, practical, flexible attitude, and ability to take on a variety of tasks.

- Awareness of Health and Safety Requirements
- Able to read and understand electronic schematics.

- Any industry relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related field.
