Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Hykit is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to help develop the next generation of hydrogen infrastructure products for the construction, agricultural and industrial sectors.

The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of mechanical design activities across Hykit's product portfolio, delivering high-quality engineering solutions throughout the full product development lifecycle.
Working closely with EC&I, manufacturing, testing and suppliers, you'll ensure products are safe, manufacturable and ready for deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed mechanical designs, 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks, CATIA or similar CAD software.
- Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical documentation and engineering records.
- Support product development from concept through to production release.
- Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to improve manufacturability and product quality.
- Participate in design reviews, engineering risk assessments and FMEA activities.
- Solve complex mechanical engineering challenges relating to structural integrity, thermal management, sealing and pressure containment.
- Support prototype builds, testing and validation activities.
- Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Support commissioning, installation and field deployment where required.
- Drive continuous improvement of engineering standards, processes and documentation.
About You
You'll be a degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer with experience delivering mechanical design solutions within a product development or manufacturing environment.
You'll also bring:
- BEng or MEng in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong mechanical design and product development experience.
- Advanced CAD capability (SolidWorks, CATIA or equivalent).
- Experience producing detailed engineering drawings, assemblies and BOMs.
- Good understanding of fabrication, machining and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of engineering change control and document management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engineering activities simultaneously.
Desirable experience includes:
- Hydrogen, compressed gas, fluid handling or industrial equipment.
- ATEX, PED or PSSR standards.
- Chartered Engineer status or a desire to work towards it.
