Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Forest School Leader to inspire and educate children through outdoor learning experiences. You will be working with both home-educated and flexi-schooled children. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with children between 5-11 years old, including those with ALN. This person will be committed to fostering a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment. This paid position offers an opportunity to develop skills in outdoor education, behaviour management, and specialised teaching methods within a natural setting.
Duties
- Lead outdoor learning sessions in our beautiful woodland and natural environments, encouraging exploration and discovery.
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that promote connection with nature and their environment.
- Support children with diverse needs, including those with ALN.
- Ensure the safety of all participants by adhering to health and safety protocols at all times
- Foster positive behaviour and facilitate inclusive participation among children of varying abilities
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and carers to support individualised learning plans and behaviour strategies
- Document children's progress and provide feedback to parents or guardians as required
Skills
- Experience in working with individuals with ALN is highly desirable
- Understanding of the emotional, physical and academic ability of children of Primary School Age.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, colleagues, and external partners
- Strong organisational skills to plan activities that meet developmental needs and safety standards
- Passion for outdoor education and environmental sustainability
- Ability to adapt teaching approaches to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
This role would be perfect for someone who is working or has worked in Primary Education and is looking for an alternative way to ignite children's learning and passions.
