About Us
Holly House Residential Home is a well-established 28-bed residential care home located in the village of Milton Malsor, Northampton. We provide 24-hour person-centred care to elderly residents, many of whom live with dementia, physical frailty, and complex health needs. We are committed to delivering the highest standards of dignity, respect, and compassionate care for every resident in our home.
The Role
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Care Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis. You will work as part of a supportive team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care to our residents in accordance with individual care plans.
This is a varied and rewarding role working across day and night shifts on a rolling rota.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Assisting residents with all personal care needs including washing, dressing, oral hygiene, continence care, and grooming, maintaining dignity and respect at all times
- Supporting residents with mobility and safe transfers using appropriate equipment and manual handling techniques
- Serving meals and beverages, encouraging and assisting residents with eating and drinking, and monitoring food and fluid intake
- Supporting residents to participate in social activities and meaningful engagement
- Carrying out regular continence checks, changing pads and assisting with toileting discreetly and respectfully
- Monitoring and reporting changes in residents' skin condition, health, and wellbeing
- Completing daily care records, observations, and documentation accurately on our electronic care planning system
- Administering medication under the supervision of a senior carer
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all residents
- Reporting any concerns to the senior carer on duty and working in accordance with each resident's care plan at all times
Shift Patterns
We operate a rolling rota including:
- Day shift: 7:00am – 7:00pm
- Night shift: 7:00pm – 7:00am
- Shifts include weekdays and weekends
- A minimum of one night shift per week may be required
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in a care setting is desirable but not essential — full training will be provided
- A caring, patient, and compassionate nature
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Willingness to work a flexible rolling shift pattern including nights and weekends
- Level 2 or Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care is desirable
- Must hold or be willing to work towards the Care Certificate
- A valid DBS check is required — costs to be confirmed at interview
