Assistant Breakfast Chef
The Lawns Hotel, Chellaston
We're looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and experienced Assistant Breakfast Chef to join our friendly kitchen team at The Lawns Hotel, Chellaston.
Hours: 20 hours per week
Pay: National Minimum Wage, with pay negotiable following successful completion of the probationary period.
About the Role
As our Assistant Breakfast Chef, you'll be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality breakfasts for our hotel guests and members of the public who join us for breakfast. This includes both cooked breakfasts and continental options, ensuring every dish is prepared to a high standard.
The role also involves supporting the wider kitchen operation by:
- Preparing ingredients and menu items for the later kitchen shift.
- Assisting with the preparation of buffets for private functions and events.
- Helping to keep the kitchen clean, organized and fully prepared for service.
- Working closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Maintaining exceptional food hygiene and food safety standards is an essential part of this role. You'll be expected to follow all food hygiene regulations, health and safety procedures, and maintain a clean and organized working environment at all times.
What We're Looking For
- Previous breakfast chef or kitchen experience is essential.
- A strong understanding of food hygiene, HACCP principles and safe food handling practices.
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is preferred but not essential, as full training can be provided for the right candidate.
- A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety and kitchen organization.
- The ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to work as part of a team.
- The ability to work independently and use initiative when required.
