Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activities Co-ordinator to enhance the quality of life for residents in our care home. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organising, and delivering engaging activities tailored to the needs and interests of our residents, with particular emphasis on senior care, dementia care, and Alzheimer's care. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults by fostering social interaction, mental stimulation, and enjoyment.
25 hours per week with alternative weekends.
Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities that promote socialisation, cognitive engagement, and physical well-being for residents.
- Organise group events, individual activities, and special outings in accordance with residents’ preferences and care plans.
- Collaborate closely with care staff to ensure activities are suitable for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive ability.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and resident feedback to continually improve activity programmes.
- Encourage resident involvement by providing personalised activity options that respect individual interests and cultural backgrounds.
- Foster a warm and inclusive environment that promotes dignity, independence, and enjoyment among residents.
- Assist with organising celebrations for birthdays, holidays, and special occasions to enhance community spirit within the home.
- Keep activity areas safe, clean, and well-maintained at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience is desirable, but not essential.
- Knowledge of senior care, dementia care, and Alzheimer’s care is essential to tailor activities appropriately.
- Strong communication skills are vital for engaging residents effectively and collaborating with team members.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in enhancing the well-being of older adults.
- Organised approach to planning events and managing multiple activities simultaneously.
- Ability to adapt activities for residents with diverse needs and abilities.
- Experience in caregiving or working within a care home environment is advantageous but not mandatory.
