Post: Kitchen Assistant
Hours: 9:30 - 13:30 (12 hours per week/ 4hrs per day) – Monday, Wed & Thurs (school term time only).
Contract: fixed term to March 27 to cover maternity leave
Salary: £NMW - £12.94.

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team at our college for young adults with disabilities / additonal needs. This role is vital to the smooth operation of our college canteen, where we serve daily lunchtime meals to our learners. You will work as part of a small, friendly team to ensure high standards of food preparation, cleanliness, and customer service.
Your key responsibilities will include assisting with the preparation of meals while maintaining high hygiene and food safety standards, serving food to students, and operating the till to handle transactions accurately. You will also be responsible for cleaning kitchen equipment, washing dishes, and ensuring the kitchen and canteen areas are kept clean and tidy. Flexibility is key, as you will support the kitchen team with a variety of general duties to help ensure a smooth and efficient service for our learners.
We are looking for someone with a flexible and proactive approach to work, who can adapt to the varied demands of a busy kitchen environment. The ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
Due to the nature of work the above post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and appointment will only be confirmed if a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure is obtained from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS)
