Job Overview
Servicom is seeking an experienced Compliance and HR Manager to lead health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance across our on-site engineering operations, while also managing core HR functions including staff onboarding, training, and development. This is a hands-on, dual-discipline role suited to someone equally comfortable auditing a workshop or a management system as they are managing an employee's onboarding or a training matrix. The role is critical to maintaining our accreditations, our standing on MoD and other client sites, and the wellbeing and development of our people.
Responsibilities
Compliance, Quality & Health and Safety
- Own and maintain our ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 accreditations, including preparation for and management of external audits
- Lead the process toward ISO 27001 accreditation
- Develop, review, and approve RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) for site works
- Ensure compliance with site-specific requirements for MoD and other restricted/regulated client sites, including managing security vetting and clearance processes (SC/BPSS) for relevant staff
- Carry out regular internal audits of company processes, workshop safety, and site operations to ensure alignment with ISO standards and identify corrective actions
- Monitor and ensure compliance with working at height regulations, workshop safety standards, CDM Regulations 2015, and other relevant H&S legislation
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents; manage RIDDOR reporting and lead on root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action
- Maintain the company's health and safety management system, policies, and documentation
- Act as primary point of contact for accreditation bodies, client compliance teams, and regulatory inspectors
- Manage compliance vetting of subcontractors and suppliers, including checks on RAMS, insurance, competency, and accreditation status before engagement on site
Human Resources
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes for staff, including inductions, right-to-work checks, and exit procedures
- Identify training needs and manage the delivery of training and upskilling programmes (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH, working at height, first aid, technical certifications)
- Maintain training matrices and ensure certifications remain current across the workforce
- Support employee relations matters, performance management, and HR policy development
- Ensure HR practices comply with current employment law and data protection (GDPR) requirements
Business Development
- Contribute compliance, quality, and H&S content to tender bids and PQQs (Pre-Qualification Questionnaires)
- Support the preparation of case studies and evidence packs demonstrating accreditation and safety performance for client audits
Requirements
- Proven experience in a compliance or QHSE role within an on-site engineering, construction, or industrial services environment
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001; experience with 27001 highly desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely essential; NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate highly desirable
- Practical understanding of RAMS development and review, working at height regulations, CDM Regulations 2015, and workshop safety practices
- Experience investigating incidents and managing RIDDOR reporting
- Experience working toward or maintaining accreditation for MoD or other regulated/defence sites, including familiarity with security clearance processes (SC/BPSS), is a strong advantage
- Experience vetting subcontractors and suppliers for compliance and competency
- Some HR generalist experience, ideally including onboarding, training coordination, and employee relations (CIPD qualification desirable but not essential)
- Experience contributing to tender submissions and PQQs
- Strong audit and report-writing skills, with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communicator, able to liaise with site engineers, senior management, clients, and external auditors alike
- Full UK driving licence, with willingness to travel to sites as required
- Eligibility for SC clearance or equivalent (for MoD site work) is highly desirable
Pay: £35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
