Due to continued company expansion, we are looking for an experienced and practical Maintenance & Engineer Support Operative to join our team.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining general maintenance of our Head Office and depot site in Walsall with supporting our team of Service Engineers both on-site and at customer premises when required.
We are a friendly, family-orientated but professional hygiene company, committed to delivering excellent products and services to our customers. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can turn their hand to a variety of practical tasks and is equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
Hours: Minimum 45 hours per week
Monday to Friday: Normally 7.00am–4.00pm when based at Head Office.
Hours may vary when travelling to customer sites or supporting our Service Engineers, so flexibility is essential.
Key Duties
Site Maintenance
Duties will be varied and may include:
- General building and maintenance work
- Carpentry
- Painting and decorating
- Basic plastering and repairs
- Slab and paving work
- Keeping the company grounds and external areas clean, tidy and well maintained
- Basic plumbing
- Basic electrical maintenance where competent to do so
- General repairs and upkeep throughout the site
- Identifying maintenance issues and ensuring work is completed safely and to a good standard
Engineer Support
You will also support our existing team of Service Engineers as and when required. Duties may include:
- Assisting with the installation, repair and replacement of washroom equipment
- Installing dispensers including soap, toilet roll and hand towel dispensers
- Assisting with the servicing and maintenance of water boilers and water coolers
- Supporting engineers with installations and maintenance work at customer premises
- Assisting with general facilities maintenance
- Travelling to customer/supplier sites when required
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Have previous experience in a similar maintenance, handyman, facilities or multi-skilled role
- Have good general carpentry skills
- Have experience in painting and decorating
- Have good practical and problem-solving skills
- Have a positive, can-do attitude
- Be flexible and adaptable
- Have good health and safety awareness
- Be able to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
- Be reliable and an excellent timekeeper
- Have excellent attention to detail
- Be able to work independently and see tasks through to completion
- Work well as part of a team and communicate confidently with colleagues at all levels
Advantageous
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Basic plumbing
- Basic electrical maintenance
- General building work
- Facilities maintenance
- Previous experience supporting engineers or working at customer sites
