E McMullan Ltd are currently seeking a fully experienced, well-disciplined, performance driven individual to fulfil the role of Senior Leakage Detection Technician. The successful candidate must have acommitted professional attitude and a methodical approach to their work, who will adhere to company policies, objectives, procedures, management structures, possess a good attitude to their co-workers, client management and staff. The successful candidate while normally operating within a specific area, will be required to carry out their duties in any location within EMM contract areas
This position is only suited to individuals who are currently working within the water industry
Primary Duties will Include:
· Being part of the management structure liaising with both contract managers and leakage technicians to ensure all company policies, procedures and contract KPIs are implemented. Be responsible for, and take accountability for the delivery of leakage reduction targets
· Carry out ad-hoc reactive leakage detection. Duties will include carrying out flow audits to identify and quantify problems, throttling valves, downloading flow and pressure data and any other related activities. They will be required to work within any EMM contract area throughout Northern Ireland
· Carry out contract proactive leakage detection using various leak detection methods and equipment including step tests, hydro loggers, acoustic loggers, leak noise correlators and all electronic acoustic equipment
· Assist in day-to-day on-site activities, monitor progress and provide support to management and technicians. Provide support to, and develop technicians by leading, training, introducing new technologies and innovations. Assist in the deployment planning of leakage team deployment. Attend contract repair site visit requests, work with management to resolve any on-site issues
· Provide specialist skills set in the detection of reactive and proactive leakage, operating in difficult DMAs/Leakage Zones/Trunk Mains and be part of a fast response team to reactive leakage events when required to ensure leakage reduction targets are achieved
· Taking full responsibility for the resolution of customer side leakage including definitive identification of all properties supplied, tracing pipes, identifying and actioning installations to assist with pinpointing of leakage, liaising with NIW customers in a professional manner
· Plan and supervise step tests in compliance with company and client guidelines, this will include first point cover of night step tests though the contracts. Carry out follow up analysis and plan follow up leakage detection activities
· Record the required data, and complete all daily, weekly and monthly reports
· Carry out on-site H&S audits to ensure compliance with Company H&S guidelines, monitor and report on any H&S/PPE incidents, unsafe observations or perceived failures and when necessary, make recommendations to improve working methods
Required Skills, Knowledge and Characteristics
· Experienced in leading leak detection contracts, working with management and leakage detection staff to deliver the required outputs of the contract in multiple DMAs
· Experienced in analysing DMA flow data to provide leakage and consumption calculations
· Proven record of detecting defects, step testing and resolution of reactive leakage outbreaks
· Proven satisfactory time management and competence to ensure all company returns and requests are received within the allocated time scale, demonstrate good numeracy and computer skills
· Unwavering professional attitude to company management, work colleagues, company ethos, client staff and customers. Possess good interpersonal/communication skills and adhere to all company policies, procedures, and directions
· Development and delivery of leakage detection training programs and deliver professional one to one training
· Planning, carrying out and supervising step tests, ZPTs including analysis of results and deployment of teams for follow up detection
· Ability to cope with the physical nature of the role including entry into confined spaces and be able to work safely and responsibly at all times
· Flexibility in all areas covered by Company contracts and working hours including night work, weekend work and out of hours ad hoc work requests
· A full clean driving licence
Previous Experience
Experience in the following is required:
· Minimum of 3 years leading and directing reactive and proactive leakage detection including day and night time network valving, planning and carrying out step tests, leakage sounding, leak noise correlating, follow up on Satellite POIs, hydro and noise loggers, deploying/analysing flow and pressure data loggers, managing customer side leakage detection and repairs
· General assisting with the management of leak detection contracts and leakage detection teams, production of relevant reports, H&S monitoring and reporting and managing defect repairs
· IT experience to include a familiarity with GIS software
· Water Network management, including valving during daytime and night-time hours, connectivity checks, isolating bursts and assisting with customer side leakage
· Be competent and have a good track record in the use of all industry leakage detection equipment
