Field Technician: Water Industry Site Investigations/Warrant Officer
Occutrace is looking to further complement and complete our team of Field Technicians.
The role involves travel across North and South London, but we'll keep you as close to home as is practicable. Our ongoing client contract focuses on investigating unrecorded water consumption across the region.
We welcome applications from employed candidates as well as self-employed/subcontractor Field Technicians.
About the role
- You'll visit specific sites identified by our clients and by our in-house Client Services team.
- Your site investigation will validate water supply connections and water usage.
- This is achieved digitally using mobile app technologies.
We're particularly interested in hearing from:
- Experienced Warrant Officers who can carry out pre-disconnection investigations and disconnection visits on commercial properties.
- Experienced Meter Readers who have the skills, confidence and willingness to take on this type of field-based investigation work.
Vehicle & expenses
- You will use your own vehicle, and we will reimburse your mileage at 19p per mile, in addition to all work-related vehicle parking.
- We will also register your car for any zonal charges that might apply to your vehicle.
Training & development
- Training provided from day one, along with uniforms and identification.
- Ongoing support to help you attain water industry accreditation.
- Specific training provided to help you work on other projects as we continue to expand our workstreams.
What we're looking for
- Someone who enjoys working outdoors in all weathers.
- Comfortable working as a lone worker, and as part of a close-knit team.
- Strong route-planning skills, as travel plays a big part in your day.
- Able to follow instructions, learn quickly, and work professionally when visiting commercial properties.
- Water industry experience desirable, particularly: warrant work, pre-disconnection and disconnection visits, commercial meter reading, or water supply investigations.
- A DBS check is required to secure any offer of employment.

26 years of combined industry experience have gone into the Occutrace app. Our software and systems were created for the water sector, and built by people who understand it at every level of the industry, spanning IT, software development and executive level.
Innovation: Occutrace is the only service that combines bespoke app technology with physical checks: high efficiency and high accuracy, as standard.
No risk: We're confident in the effectiveness of our approach, which is why we only charge for our service where it turns up something of commercial benefit to you.
The potential of data: Water wholesalers and retailers already have vast data at their fingertips, but with poor accuracy in key areas, what could be an asset instead becomes an expensive liability. Occutrace is transforming the water sector using cloud-powered technology combined with old-fashioned techniques such as field agent visits and quality control. It's a balance of innovation and human hard work that's delivered results such as an 83% improvement in billing accuracy, achieved through our meter read service for one of the world's largest water retailers.
