Pond Technician (Ponds & Water Features)
Role overview
Waterleaf Pond Services are looking for a reliable Pond Technician to support the servicing, maintenance, repair and build/installation of domestic and commercial ponds and water features.
We’re based in Hesketh Bank and cover Lancashire, Merseyside and surrounding areas.
This is a practical, field-based role for someone who enjoys outdoor work, takes pride in high standards, and has a genuine interest in ponds, aquatic environments and water features.
You’ll work across a range of sites and systems—helping keep water features looking their best, running efficiently and remaining safe for wildlife and fish (where applicable).
Key responsibilities
- Service and maintain ponds and water features, including cleaning, inspections and seasonal care
- Carry out basic water quality checks and testing (e.g., clarity, algae control and general parameters)
- Inspect, service and maintain equipment including pumps, filters, UV units, pipework and aeration systems
- Diagnose common faults and complete repairs where appropriate, or clearly report remedial works required
- Support pond building and water feature installation, including preparation work and assisting experienced installers (training provided)
- Handle and store tools, equipment and chemicals safely and in line with company procedures
- Maintain a tidy, safe working area and leave sites clean and presentable
- Provide excellent customer care and communicate clearly and professionally on-site
- Complete job notes accurately, take photos where required, and produce service reports
What we’re looking for (essential)
- Interest in ponds, water features, aquatic wildlife or related outdoor/environmental work (professional or personal)
- Practical approach with good problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to use own initiative and work proactively
- Commitment to quality, safety and attention to detail
- Ability to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions
- Ability to carry out the role’s physical tasks safely (for example lifting, bending and working with tools)
- Driving requirement: ability to drive a company van between sites (a full UK driving licence or equivalent valid licence is required)
- Professional, friendly communication with customers
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience in pond maintenance, landscaping, plumbing, horticulture, grounds maintenance or similar
- Basic electrical/mechanical confidence (e.g., troubleshooting pumps/UV units etc)
- Knowledge of fish welfare and aquatic plant care
- Relevant qualifications (water treatment, horticulture, health & safety, etc.)
Hours & pay
- Hours: negotiable
- Pay: depending on experience
