Forklift Operator / Warehouse Operative

Job Purpose
To support the efficient operation of the Warehouse by safely operating Forklift Trucks, handling materials, receiving and dispatching goods, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring a safe, clean, and organised working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Forklift Operations
- Safely operate counterbalance, reach truck, and/or other forklift vehicles (as licensed and authorised).
- Load and unload vehicles efficiently while minimising damage to products and equipment.
- Transport raw materials, finished goods, and packaging throughout the warehouse and production areas.
- Conduct pre-use forklift inspections and report any defects immediately.
Warehouse Duties
- Receive, check, and accurately record incoming goods against delivery documentation.
- Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for dispatch.
- Store products in designated warehouse locations following stock rotation procedures.
- Support inventory control activities, including cycle counting and stock audits.
- Ensure all goods are labelled, stored, and handled correctly.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organised warehouse in line with 5S standards.
- Report accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives within the warehouse operation.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Valid forklift truck licence (Counterbalance and/or Reach Truck).
- Previous experience operating forklifts within a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment.
- Good understanding of warehouse processes and stock control.
- Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

Working Hours
- Full-time, shift-based operation (36 hours per week)
- Mornings: 6-1:30pm Mon-Thurs, Friday 6-12pm
- Afternoons: 1:30-9pm Mon-Thurs, Friday 12-6pm
- Occasional overtime may be required during peak periods.
