Overview:
West Sussex Mind is proud to be part of Pathfinder West Sussex, a partnership of organisations working together to support people experiencing mental health challenges and their carers to improve their wellbeing. Led by BHT Sussex, Pathfinder delivers community-based mental health services across West Sussex, with West Sussex Mind providing support across the Chichester, Arun, Worthing and Adur neighbourhoods.
About the role
An exciting opportunity has come up in the Pathfinder services, within our Lived Experience team – who arrange a wide range of activities and groups as part of a service users journey into the community. We’re looking for a Lived Experience Lead to lead our Community Peer Support Team – which consists of four Community Peer Support Workers and a number of Peer Volunteers.
Working closely with our four neighbourhood mental health support teams, you'll ensure activities reflect the needs, interests and ideas of the people who use our services. You'll also play an important role in developing new opportunities, strengthening community partnerships and embedding lived experience throughout service delivery.
About you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about the value of lived experience and the power of peer support. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting people with mental health needs in community or voluntary sector services, alongside experience managing or supervising staff and/or volunteers.
They will be confident facilitating groups, supporting others to do the same, and applying recovery-focused, strengths-based approaches while effectively managing group dynamics. A personal understanding of mental health challenges and recovery, and the ability to use lived experience appropriately in a professional setting, will be highly valued.
