We’re looking for a Driver / Valeter to join our team at Coastline Autos in Longniddry, East Lothian.
We’re a small, family-run independent garage and we like to keep things pretty straightforward. We work hard and take pride in what we do, but we’re also a close-knit team with a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of laughs along the way.
We’re looking for someone friendly, reliable and hands-on who can become part of the team and take pride in keeping our vehicles looking their best.
This position is available for an immediate start, and we’re looking to fill the role as soon as possible.
Hours
Full-time, 9am to 5pm, five days per week.
The role works on a simple three-week rota:
Week 1: Tuesday to Saturday
Week 2: Tuesday to Saturday
Week 3: Monday to Friday
So you’ll work two Saturdays followed by one Saturday off. On the weeks you work Saturday, you’ll have the Monday off.
The role
The job is mainly focused around preparing our stock and sold vehicles, looking after customer cars through our car wash and valeting services, and helping with driving and moving vehicles when required.
We’re not a huge dealership with lots of departments, so everyone tends to muck in and help each other out when needed. Some days will be busier than others, but you’ll be working alongside a small team in a friendly environment where everyone knows each other.
For the right person, there is also the opportunity for this role to grow into taking more responsibility for, and eventually managing, the car wash and valeting side of Coastline Autos.
Day to day, the role will include:
- Preparing stock and sold vehicles
- Full interior and exterior valeting
- Washing customer vehicles through our drive-through car wash
- Vacuuming, shampooing and interior cleaning
- Machine polishing and buffing when required
- Driving, collecting and moving vehicles
- Keeping the valeting and car wash areas tidy
- Helping out with general jobs around the garage when needed
Who we’re looking for
You’ll need a full UK driving licence, a good eye for detail and to be comfortable with a fairly active job.
Previous valeting experience would definitely be useful, particularly experience with machine polishing, but it isn’t essential. We’d much rather find someone with the right attitude who is reliable, willing to learn and gets on well with the rest of the team.
We’re a small business, so personality matters to us. We want someone who can get on with the job, take a bit of pride in what they do and enjoy being part of the team at the same time.
Training can be provided where needed.
Salary
Salary will be discussed at interview and will be based on the successful candidate’s experience.
