Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Japanese cuisine, specialising in sushi preparation, and demonstrate a commitment to high standards of food safety and presentation. Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi dishes with precision and artistry, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the sushi station in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Source, handle, and store ingredients appropriately to preserve freshness and minimise waste.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and service times efficiently.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and notify management when supplies need replenishing.
- Ensure all dishes meet presentation standards before serving to guests.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines during food preparation and handling.
- Assist in training junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques and safety procedures as required.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, particularly within Japanese cuisine or as a Sushi Chef.
- Strong skills in cooking, meal preparation, and food presentation.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in a professional kitchen environment.
- Previous experience working in a restaurant setting, ideally with serving responsibilities.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- A passion for culinary arts and attention to detail in every dish prepared.
