The Estate is fully serviced with 24hr security, Concierge and Guest Services team to help with all resident and guest requests. The Estate is home to several facilities including a full-service spa and gym, tennis courts, restaurant and a zip activities hub.
The Linen Porter is responsible for the efficient handling, transport, quality control, and stock management of all linen, towelling, and soft furnishings across the hotel and private estate. The role ensures a constant, immaculate supply of linen to guest rooms, estate residences, food & beverage outlets, spa, and staff areas, upholding the exacting presentation standards expected of a luxury property.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, sort, and transport soiled linen from guest rooms, estate residences, F&B outlets, and back-of-house areas to the laundry/linen room
- Distribute clean, pressed linen to floor pantries, estate residences, and departments on a scheduled and on-demand basis
- Maintain accurate par stock levels on each floor, outlet, and estate property
- Ensure linen trolleys, cages, and storage areas are kept clean, organised, and safe
- Inspect all linen for stains, tears, fraying, or discolouration before it is returned to circulation
- Remove damaged or substandard items and log for repair, replacement, or write-off
- Ensure all linen meets the property's presentation standards
- Liaise with external/internal laundry teams regarding quality issues or turnaround delays
- Stock & Inventory Management
- Conduct regular linen counts/stock takes across hotel and estate locations
- Maintain accurate inventory records
- Report shortages, losses, or unusual consumption patterns to the Housekeeping Supervisor
- Assist with ordering and receiving new linen stock, checking deliveries against orders
- Provide discreet, flexible linen support for private estate residences, guest suites, and event spaces, often with irregular or short-notice timing
- Prepare bespoke linen setups for private functions, VIP arrivals, and special occasions
- Maintain absolute discretion regarding the privacy of estate owners, family, and guests
- Operate laundry-adjacent equipment (trolleys, lifts, chutes) safely and in line with manual handling guidelines
- Support housekeeping and estate teams during peak periods, turnovers, or events
- Adhere to health & safety, hygiene, and COSHH regulations at all times
- Report maintenance issues affecting linen storage or transport areas
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in housekeeping, laundry, or linen room operations, ideally within a luxury hotel, private household, or high-end hospitality environment
- Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation standards
- Physically fit and able to lift, carry, and stand for extended periods
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours including weekends/holidays
- Trustworthy and discreet, given access to private guest and estate areas
- Experience working across multiple sites or a hotel-plus-private-residence structure
- Familiarity with linen/inventory tracking systems
- Full, clean driving licence
