We are proud of our reputation for quality, attention to detail and customer experience, and as our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Head Carpenter to help lead our site operations.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced carpenter who takes genuine pride in their work.
You will be responsible for leading the construction of our bespoke timber-frame buildings from the ground up, ensuring every project is completed to the highest standards of workmanship, safety and customer satisfaction.
The majority of our work is throughout Bristol and Bath, although occasional travel may be required as the company expands into neighbouring counties.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the construction of bespoke timber-frame garden rooms, annexes and extensions.
- Read and interpret technical drawings.
- Set out and build timber-frame structures from first principles.
- Install roofs, cladding, windows and doors.
- Complete high-quality first and second fix carpentry.
- Lead and support other members of the site team.
- Maintain excellent site organisation, cleanliness and health & safety.
- Communicate professionally with clients throughout the build process.
- Some Coordination with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure projects are delivered to the exceptional standards expected by DGS.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' carpentry experience.
- Ownership of all necessary hand and power tools
- Experience leading projects or supervising a small team.
- Excellent timber framing and structural carpentry skills.
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems on site.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Full UK clean driving licence.
