Key Responsibilities
Administrative support:
- Provide administrative support across all laboratory departments.
- Deliver secretarial support to the Laboratory Director and senior management team.
- Provide administrative support to the PCI Board as required.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations and other documentation.
- Organise meetings, prepare agendas and record minutes.
- Welcome visitors and assist with reception duties where required.
- Manage laboratory archiving systems.
- Coordinate courier logistics.
- Assist with procurement activities and maintain stock inventories.
- Support accounts and invoicing processes.
- Assist with Human Resources administration.
Customer Service:
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, suppliers and service users.
- Respond appropriately to enquiries and escalate complex issues when necessary.
- Support the management of complaints.
- Monitor referred samples to ensure turnaround times are achieved.
Communication:
- Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, clinicians, suppliers and external organisations.
- Share quality updates and procedural changes with relevant staff.
- Maintain professional, courteous and confidential communication at all times.

Essential
Qualifications:
- At least 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.
Experience:
- Previous administrative or customer service experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience managing competing priorities.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge:
- Quality management principles.
- IT systems and office software.
- Record management and archiving.
Skills:
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent keyboard and typing skills.
- Good numeracy skills.
- Problem-solving ability.
- Ability to communicate professionally with colleagues at all levels.
Desirable
- Secretarial experience.
- Typing qualification.
- Medical terminology knowledge.
