Role Profile – Payroll & HR Administrator
Purpose:
As Payroll Administrator you will play a key role in the calculation of monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. You will also support the HR administrative function and wider People team by maintaining employee records, assisting with onboarding and offboarding processes, and responding to payroll queries. Additionally, you will help ensure that all payroll and HR activities are aligned with company policies and relevant legislation, contributing to the smooth and efficient running of the People function.
Location: Poole, BH12
Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 (Pro Rata)
Working Hours: 25 hrs per week (Monday to Friday)
Working Pattern: Flexible but with commitment to payroll deadlines
Reporting to: Finance Controller
Duties and Responsibilities:
The day-to-day duties and responsibilities include:
- First point of contact with department managers to ensure all exceptions are cleared daily in the T&A system
- Calculation of all data required for payroll e.g. employee deductions, shift premium payments, holiday pay adjustments, unpaid absence deductions & statutory payments (SSP, SMP) – ensuring latest legislation is complied with
- Collation & submission of required data to payroll bureau in line with monthly bureau deadlines
- Review of payroll bureau calculations by employee to ensure accuracy and completeness of net pay - ensuring tax & NIC calculations are correct
- Resolving any payroll errors and queries raised by employees
- Assisting with the processing and documentation of employee benefits
- Maintaining all systems for new starters and leavers
- Assisting with documentation for first day inductions and issuing uniforms and PPE
- Assisting fire safety procedures, conducting regular fire alarm tests and drills.
- Arranging meetings, meeting resources, lunches, travel and accommodation when required
- Providing general admin support to the People team on a regular basis
Personal attributes:
- Minimum 3-years’ experience of calculating payroll & using payroll systems
- Ability to communicate to a high level of emotional intelligence and people skills
- Attention to detail with a passion for payroll
- Understanding of UK tax codes, thresholds for tax & NIC & rules for benefits in kind
