After School Club Playworker
Hours: Part-time 3 afternoons a week 3-6pm (term time only)
Location: Shirenewton After School Club, Shirenewton
About the Role
We are looking for a fun, enthusiastic and reliable Playworker to join our friendly After School Club team. If you enjoy working with children, love being creative, and can make every afternoon exciting and engaging, we'd love to hear from you.
Our club provides a safe, happy and stimulating environment where children can relax after school, make friends, and take part in a wide range of activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment for all children.
- Plan and lead fun, creative and engaging activities, including arts and crafts, games, sports, outdoor play and themed activities.
- Encourage children to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships through play.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers and school staff.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children by following safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
- Support children's individual needs and promote inclusive play.
- Help prepare and tidy activity areas each day.
- Work as part of a friendly team to provide high-quality childcare.

Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children (in a school, childcare, sports, youth work or similar setting).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
Desirable
- A relevant childcare or playwork qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
- First Aid qualification.
- Food Hygiene certificate.
- Experience planning activities for primary school-aged children.
