Overview
We are seeking a diligent Part Time Commercial Insurance Underwriter to join our team within the Commercial Underwriting and Commercial Property sector. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a keen eye for detail and a strong analytical mindset to contribute to risk assessment and decision-making processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for dealing with renewals and new business in a broker-facing environment, assessing risk factors, and supporting the organisation’s underwriting objectives. Flexibility in working hours and the ability to work independently are essential qualities for this position as this will be a remote position.
Duties
- Analyse and assess insurance applications and financial documents to determine risk levels.
- Issue quotations and documentations in a timely and accurate manner.
- Liaise with brokers by email, telephone and face to face, where necessary.
- Utilise quantitative analysis techniques to evaluate applicant data accurately.
- Conduct risk analysis by considering various factors such as financial history, credit scores, and market conditions.
- Apply negotiation skills when discussing terms and conditions with brokers.
- Collaborate with team members to develop appropriate underwriting policies and procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of underwriting decisions and rationale for future reference.
- Keep abreast of industry regulations, market trends, and best practices in underwriting standards.
- Support senior underwriters in complex cases requiring specialised evaluation.
- Quarterly meetings at a centrally agreed location on a regular basis.
Qualifications
- Proven experience or strong interest in financial services, banking, or related fields.
- Solid understanding of mathematics, accounting principles, and risk management concepts.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal teams.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in quantitative analysis methods.
- Knowledge of banking operations, financial products, and regulatory requirements is desirable.
- Organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently within tight deadlines.

Pay: £24,420.00-£35,000.00 per year
