Class 1 Driver needed for our client in Tewkesbury
This is a temp-perm position paid at £42,646.97 per year.
Usual start times are between 20:00 and 03:00 so flexibility to work nights and early mornings is essential.
As a Class 1 Driver, you'll be responsible for:
- Safely operating HGV vehicles (Category CE) in compliance with UK driving laws.
- Delivering dairy products on multi-drop rounds, ensuring timely, accurate, and quality service.
- Building positive customer relationships as the face of our company.
- Following stock rotation and quality procedures.
- Problem-solving independently on the road and adapting to varying night shift patterns.
What We're Looking For:
- A clean UK driving licence (Category CE or above) and an up to date CPC and Digicard.
- Physical fitness for manual handling (rolling cages) and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive attitude, attention to detail, and the flexibility for night shifts.
- Newly qualified drivers are welcome – we’ll provide all the training and support you need!
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Class 1 Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of dairy products, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all traffic regulations and safety protocols. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to handle various types of cargo.
You may be offered a Class 2 position initially if we feel this would best support your development, confidence and future progression into Class 1 work.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a Class 1 lorry in a safe and efficient manner, following all road regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring that it is secured properly for transport.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and paperwork as required.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures related to safety, compliance, and customer service.
