Job Overview
The post holder will assist with the production of savoury food products within the FED Central Production Unit (CPU), ensuring consistency, quality and efficiency across all products prepared for our cafés and catering operations. This role involves working alongside kitchen staff, managing food production processes, and ensuring all safety and hygiene standards are maintained. The Production Chef will play a vital role in maintaining the organisation’s reputation for excellence in food service and production.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the production of savoury products including salads, frittatas, sausage rolls, pasties and other savoury counter products in accordance with FED standards and specs
- Follow recipes, prep methods and portion specifications accurately to maintain consistency across all products
- Prepare fillings, sauces, dressings and components for daily production builds Ensure all products are prepared efficiently and within agreed production timelines Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment in line with food hygiene and health & safety standards
- Follow all food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures, ensuring correct handling and communication of allergen information at all times
- Support stock rotation and correct storage of ingredients and prepared products
- Minimise wastage through careful prep, portion control and good organisation Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly used, cleaned and maintained and report any issues where necessary Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen and bakery team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
- Support opening and closing procedures within the CPU, including cleaning and preparation for the next production day Assist with catering prep and production where required
Person Profile Specification
- Passion for food and good knowledge of fresh food preparation
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
- Positive attitude and strong team player
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Good understanding of food hygiene, safety and allergen awareness
- Ability to follow recipes and specifications accurately
- Willingness to learn and develop within the kitchen team
- In-depth menu and company knowledge and the ability to talk enthusiastically about what we do

Pay: £12.21-£17.50 per hour
