Job Purpose:
To install, service, and maintain a wide range of domestic and commercial gas appliances, heating systems, and associated pipework. The Gas Engineer will ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with Gas Safe regulations, British Standards, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, commission, service, and repair domestic and commercial gas appliances such as boilers, water heaters and warm air units.
- Carry out safety inspections, fault diagnosis, and performance testing on gas systems.
- Undertake planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive and emergency call-outs.
- Work on low and medium-pressure gas distribution systems, including pipework installation and pressure testing.
- Ensure compliance with all Gas Safe, Health & Safety, and Environmental regulations.
- Complete and submit all relevant gas safety records, service reports, and compliance documentation accurately and promptly.
- Liaise with customers, tenants, and building managers to explain work, obtain access, and provide excellent service.
- Identify and report additional repair or upgrade opportunities to improve system efficiency and safety.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition.
Qualifications & Certifications:
Essential:
- Current Gas Safe Registration.
- Full UK Driving Licence
- ACS qualifications covering both domestic and commercial gas work, typically including:
- CCN1 – Core Domestic Gas Safety
- CENWAT – Boilers & Water Heaters
- COCN1 or CODNCO1 – Core Commercial Gas Safety
- CIGA1 – Indirect Fired Heating Appliances
- CORT1 – Direct Fired Heating Appliances
- ICPN1 – Installation of Commercial Pipework
Desirable:
- LPG (CONGLP1PD/CM).
- Unvented Hot Water Systems (G3).
- NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent).
- PASMA / IPAF certification for access equipment.
- DBS certificate
Experience:
- Demonstrable experience working as a Gas Engineer in both domestic and commercial environments.
- Skilled in fault finding, system diagnostics, and repair on a range of gas-fired equipment.
- Experience working with commercial heating plant rooms, control systems, and pressurisation units.
- Background in reactive maintenance and PPM within facilities management, or building services.

- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload efficiently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Competent in using digital job management systems and electronic record keeping.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
