At Rainbows Children's Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to more than 750 babies, children and young people living with life threatening and life-shortening conditions across the East Midlands. Simply put, we're here to brighten short lives and support every family, wherever they are.
We're looking for a compassionate and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our Catering Team and help provide nutritious, high-quality meals for the children, young people, families, staff, volunteers and guests who visit our hospice.
About the Role
You'll support the Catering Manager and Chef with food preparation, serving meals, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring high standards of food hygiene throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
Key duties include:
- Assisting with food preparation and basic cooking tasks.
- Serving meals and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment.
- Correctly storing and labelling food.
- Washing catering equipment and carrying out cleaning duties.
- Preparing and maintaining dining areas for service.
About You
You'll have:
- Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment.
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A caring and respectful approach when supporting children, young people and families.
Experience within a hospice, hospital, care home or similar healthcare setting would be advantageous.
