Highways Maintenance Operative
S&D 2011 Ltd are one of the preferred Civil Engineering contractors working for a variety of high profile clients in the commercial sector including government and local authorities. We are seeking a reliable and skilled Highways Maintenance Operative to join our team and assist with various maintenance tasks. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the upkeep of vital public infrastructure and be part of a dedicated team that ensures high standards of safety and efficiency.
The Role / Responsibilities
- Reinstating Ironwork: Efficiently reinstall and restore ironwork components, including manhole covers, drainage grates, and iron bollards, ensuring proper alignment and safety standards.
- Whitework Reinstatement: Undertake the reinstatement of white line markings, road signage, and other road surface markings to maintain visibility and compliance with regulations.
- Pothole Repairs: Identify, assess, and repair potholes within specified areas, ensuring durable and smooth surfaces for vehicles and pedestrians. This includes proper filling and compaction of materials to prevent further deterioration.
- Footway Reinstatement: Perform repairs to pedestrian walkways, ensuring safe, level, and accessible surfaces. This may include reinstating concrete, asphalt, or other types of footway surfaces.
- Signpost Reinstatement: Repair and reinstate signposts, ensuring they are correctly positioned, aligned, and securely fastened for the safety and guidance of the public.
- Guardrail Reinstatement: Restore and replace damaged or deteriorated guardrails, ensuring they meet safety standards and are properly installed to safeguard pedestrians and vehicles.
- Bollard Reinstatement: Reinstall bollards, ensuring their stability and visibility to prevent vehicle access in restricted areas, contributing to traffic safety.

Essential skills
- CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Card: Must be current and valid for site access.
- Street Works: Street Works Qualification required to perform tasks in public road environments.
- CAT & Genny: Experience in using Cable Avoidance Tools and Genny to locate underground utilities.
- Manual Handling: Certification to perform lifting and handling tasks safely.
- UK Driving Licence: Full and valid driving licence required to drive company vehicles to and from worksites.
Desirable
- Fire Marshal Training: Knowledge and certification to act as a Fire Marshal on-site is beneficial.
- First Aid 3-Day Course: Must hold a valid 3-day First Aid qualification to respond to any emergencies on-site.
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme): Valid certification required
- Class 1 Drivers Licence: A Class 1 licence is a desirable qualification to operate larger vehicles if required for transportation of equipment or personnel.

Pay: £160.00-£200.00 per day
