Job Overview
Starfield United FC is looking for two ambitious and dedicated Team Managers/Coaches to join our growing club structure. This is a voluntary position suited to someone looking to gain hands-on experience in senior grassroots football, develop their coaching and management skills, and build connections within the football pyramid. We want to help our coaches progress alongside the club. We will provide support and training, with opportunities to take on greater responsibility within Starfield United and potential introductions and links to clubs higher up the football pyramid. For coaches looking to progress their careers, we aim to develop relationships and pathways with clubs including Bristol City, Bristol Rovers, Bristol Manor Farm and other Step 7 and County League clubs.
There will also be opportunities for progression internally, including the potential to move into a Club Secretary or other senior club role.
The Commitment
The role currently requires availability for: Thursday evenings – Training sessions Sunday mornings – Matchdays This position is currently unpaid/voluntary.
We therefore want to be completely transparent that the main benefits of the role are experience, development, responsibility and opportunities to build contacts within football.
Duties
- Help plan and deliver engaging football training sessions Assist with or take responsibility for team selection and matchday management
- Develop players technically, tactically and physically Provide clear instructions on tactics, positioning and team strategy
- Motivate players and maintain high standards during training and matches
- Monitor individual player development and provide constructive feedback
- Help create a positive, competitive and enjoyable team environment. Promote discipline, respect, teamwork and sportsmanship
- Work alongside the club's existing management and committee
- Assist with the organisation and smooth running of matchdays
- Help identify areas where individual players and the wider team can improve
- Represent Starfield United FC professionally on and off the pitch
Who We're Looking For
Previous coaching or team management experience would be beneficial, but we are also open to ambitious individuals looking to develop their coaching career. Ideally, you will have:
- A strong understanding and passion for football
- Good communication and leadership skills Confidence working with and motivating adult players
- Reliability and availability on Thursdays and Sundays
- A positive attitude towards player development
- Good organisational skills An interest in developing your own coaching knowledge and qualifications The ambition to progress within football
