About Darlish
Darlish is an award-winning Middle Eastern-inspired ice cream brand with a loyal
following for Persian flavours like Saffron, Rose & Pistachio and Tahini. Since 2016,
we've been scooping artisan ice cream at locations across London and Hertfordshire,
building a close-knit community around flavour, hospitality and beautiful design.
Now we're opening a flagship parlour on Westbourne Park Road in Notting Hill, directly
opposite the iconic “blue door” – a location that's about to become one of London's
most Instagrammable dessert destinations.
You'll be at the front of that story: the face, the energy, the first impression. The person
who hands a customer their scoop, watches their eyes light up, and makes them want to
come back tomorrow.
What you'll do
You're the star of the counter. Every shift, you'll:
Greet guests with genuine warmth – be the reason someone walks in instead of past the window. Make regulars feel like friends. Turn tourists into locals.
Scoop with pride – portioning, stacking and presenting ice cream that looks as delicious as it tastes. You'll learn our technique; consistency and confidence matter.
Tell the story – confidently describe flavours, ingredients, allergens and what makes our ice cream different. Upsell not through pressure, but through passion for the product.
Master the rush – on sunny days, you'll move fast. On rainy days, you'll keep the energy warm and unhurried. You'll stay calm either way, keep the counter clean even at peak times, and never let service slip.
Own a shift – whether you're opening the shop, closing it down, or working solo mid-shift, you'll handle it independently and professionally.
Be part of the team – collaborate with your manager and other scoopers to keep standards high, support each other during rushes, and contribute ideas about how to improve the guest experience.
About you
Experience
Previous hospitality or customer service experience is a bonus, not a requirement. We'll train you fully on ice cream knowledge, service standards and our systems.
What matters more: you're confident in conversation, can think on your feet, and genuinely want guests to leave happy.
You're adaptable – comfortable switching gear from busy weekend rush to a quiet Tuesday afternoon without losing your warmth or standards.
Character & behaviours
Guest-obsessed – you light up when serving people. You remember faces, remember preferences, and ask genuine questions about what someone wants, not what we want to sell them.
Positive energy – you bring humour, warmth and genuine enthusiasm. You're not faking it; you actually like people and enjoy hospitality.
Food lover – you're curious about flavours, where they come from, and why they matter. You'll get genuinely excited learning about Persian ice cream and our Middle Eastern heritage.
Detail-oriented – cleanliness, allergen awareness, and consistency matter to you. You're reliable and take pride in a well-run shop.
Coachable – you want feedback, you improve, and you help train new team members as you settle in.
Flexibility
You're available for evenings and weekends – ice cream peaks when people want dessert, not at 9am on Mondays.
You can work part-time or full-time depending on your needs. We'll build a rota that fits, but understand the busiest periods need your availability.
