Head Chef – 4 Day Week | 39 Hours | Fixed Rota
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Head Chef to take ownership of our kitchen and lead a small team across our busiest four days of the week.
We already have an established menu and operating model, so we’re not looking for someone to come in and reinvent everything. We want a calm, capable chef who can take what works, maintain high standards and run the kitchen efficiently.
Our food offering changes throughout the day. You’ll need to be equally comfortable running a busy brunch/lunch service, working with fresh pizza dough and producing great pizzas, and delivering burgers and our evening menu consistently.
We’re particularly looking for somebody who is organised and level-headed. Brunch can get busy, and we need a chef who can handle a full board without getting flustered, maintain standards and keep the kitchen moving.
The working pattern is fixed:
- Thursday: 8:30am–2:30pm / 4:30pm–9:30pm
- Friday: 8:30am–2:30pm / 4:30pm–9:30pm
- Saturday: 8:30am–2:30pm / 4:30pm–9:30pm
- Sunday: 8:30am–2:30pm
That’s 39 hours over four days, finishing Sunday afternoon and then Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off every week.
You’ll have additional kitchen support during busy daytime services, including a kitchen porter/kitchen assistant.
The role includes responsibility for day-to-day kitchen operations, food quality and consistency, prep, stock and ordering, cleanliness and food-safety standards, managing service and helping develop the kitchen team.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience running or taking significant responsibility for a busy kitchen
- Can run brunch service confidently and efficiently
- Has experience making pizzas using fresh dough
- Is comfortable with a quality burger/evening service
- Is organised with prep, ordering and stock control
- Keeps their cool during busy services
- Leads by example and gets stuck in
- Wants a stable role with a consistent four-day working week
Salary: £28-32k per year, depending on experience.
This would suit an experienced Head Chef or a strong Sous Chef who’s ready to take ownership of a kitchen and wants a predictable working pattern without the usual five- or six-day chef week.
Pay: £28,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Discounted or free food
- Employee discount
Work Location: In person
