We are looking for compassionate, reliable, and professional Secure Patient Transport support workers to join our dedicated team. In this rewarding role, you will provide safe, secure, and respectful transportation for individuals with mental health conditions, physical health needs, and learning disabilities, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and wellbeing throughout every journey.
Working as part of a professional transport team, you will support patients travelling between hospitals, healthcare facilities, residential settings, and community services while maintaining the highest standards of safety, care, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Safely transport patients in accordance with company policies and healthcare procedures.
Provide compassionate, person-centred support to adults and children with a range of mental health conditions, physical disabilities, and learning disabilities.
Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
Carry out dynamic risk assessments before and during transport.
Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, care providers, and family members to ensure smooth patient transfers.
Accurately complete transport documentation and incident reports where required.
Monitor patient wellbeing during transport and respond appropriately to changes in condition.
Ensure vehicles, equipment, and safety systems are clean, secure, and operational.
Follow safeguarding procedures and infection prevention and control measures.
Apply de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations safely and professionally.
Essential Requirements
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Calm, professional, and empathetic approach.
Ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.
Full UK driving licence (2 years).
To pass enhanced background checks or have a DBS certificate on the update service.
To pass any occupational health screening.
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Training will be provided
Previous experience within patient transport, healthcare, mental health services, ambulance services, security, or social care.
Training in PMVA, MAPA, CPI, or other recognised conflict management and de-escalation techniques.
Manual Handling certification.
Experience supporting individuals with autism, dementia, learning disabilities, or complex care needs.
