The Department of Economics and Related Studies is one of the largest economics departments in the UK, delivering high-quality teaching and research to a diverse and growing student community. Our Student Services Team plays a central role in this work, providing responsible and inclusive support throughout the student journey.
We are recruiting two Student Service Administrators, each aligned to one of our Student Services Coordinators:
- One supporting assessment processes
- One supporting student experience and programme administration
Both roles contribute to the delivery of high-quality, student-centred administrative support and work collaboratively across the team during peak periods.
Assessment-focused role
This post supports the day-to-day administration of undergraduate and postgraduate assessment processes. This role requires developing a comprehensive understanding of the department’s programmes and of University policies to advise students and staff and ensure accurate, efficient delivery of assessment-related tasks.
Student experience and programme role
This post handles day-to-day administration tasks within the Student Service Team throughout the academic year. The role requires a strong understanding of departmental programmes and policies to assist both students and academic staff effectively. This role will provide dedicated support for our Health Economics Distance Learning programme and will receive training to assist with busy assessment periods.
Both roles require excellent organisation, strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities while contributing positively to the student experience. They are well suited to someone who enjoys working with varied stakeholders and thrives in a busy, student-facing environment. The roles are ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented and confident working with structured procedures.

In this role you will:
- Bring thorough knowledge of administrative processes and procedures gained in a large complex organisation and your excellent IT skills to the role.
- Provide a high standard of administrative support to students and staff across a range of activities.
- Learn and use a wide range of University systems, policies and processes to support day-to-day student services operations.
- A high level of responsiveness, resilience and empathy to effectively handle changing priorities and demands.
We are looking for individuals who:
- Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a supportive team
- Are organised and able to manage a range of tasks at the same time
- Communicate effectively and clearly
- Are comfortable using IT systems (training and support will be provided)
- Have the ability to cope with change and to re-prioritise tasks at short notice
- Demonstrate a commitment to be collaborative, supportive and customer focused
