Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen operations by reporting to the Cook, the successful candidate is responsible for supporting the team to provide high quality of service within the home.
The Kitchen Assistant will be part of the team ensuring the highest standards are achieved to meet the needs to the residents.
Responsibilities
Services
- Support the team to ensure the services and residents experience is of the highest standard and quality.
- Ensure that all regulatory and statutory requirements are met and company policies and procedures are adhered to
- Ensure that the companies’ policies and procedures are always followed.
- Attend all training updates as required by the company to ensure that safe practices are always adhered to.
- Assist the team with meal service to the residents
- Assist the team with providing refreshments for the residents and guests to the home.
- Ensure the public areas such as dining rooms and lounges are clean and tidy.
- To actively engage with residents in conversation and meaningful occupation related to their lifestyle choices at a level and pace that values the individual and respects their dignity and communication differences.
Health and Safety
- Ensure Health & Safety within the services team, residents and visitors meet the requirements
- Ensure regulations and compliance are met and adhered to
- Ensure equipment and environment is safe within the home.
- Report any issues to the person in charge
- You will be required for this role to potentially liftheavy objects
Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 is desirable
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and food safety regulations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to cooking and meal preparation.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to promote a professional image for the company at all times
- Willing and able to travel to other homes where needed for training / support
- Able to adapt to the Strong Life Care culture
