Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Support Worker to join our team, providing essential assistance to individuals in various care settings. The role involves supporting clients with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their well-being in a respectful and caring manner. Duties
- Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
- Support with mobility and transfer activities, including heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring safety for both clients and staff.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements and assist with feeding if needed.
- Administer medication following prescribed instructions, maintaining accurate records.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.
- Assist with household chores such as laundry, cleaning, and organising living spaces.
- Support clients with medical appointments and outings, including driving when required.
- Monitor health status and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Implement behaviour management strategies for clients with dementia or other behavioural conditions.
- Follow care plans meticulously, ensuring all procedures adhere to health and safety regulations.
Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of patient care, dementia care (including Alzheimer's), hospice care, and senior care.
- Knowledge of medication administration and first aid certification.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage empathetically with clients of all ages.
- Ability to handle challenging behaviours with patience and professionalism.
- Competence in meal preparation tailored to specific dietary needs.
- Valid driving licence for assisting with transportation needs.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and long periods of standing or walking throughout shifts.
- Childcare experience is considered an asset for supporting families or younger clients.
- Organised approach to managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
