Job Purpose
We are looking for an Accounts Assistant with practice experience, to join our traditional, growing, Accountancy Practice where you can hone your skills and really focus on helping local, small businesses. Working 21 hours (3 days) per week.

THIS ROLE IS 100% OFFICE BASED
The Role
Working in a team with other bookkeepers and accountants, this role will give you the chance to expand your knowledge and enjoy opportunities for development as you establish yourself within the company.
Initially, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Daily bookkeeping duties for company clients, including sales and purchase ledgers, bank, credit card and cash.
- Bank reconciliations
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns
- Liaise with clients, HMRC and all external contacts.
- Knowledge of CIS would be an advantage as processing such deductions will form part of the job role.
- To post journals eg, PAYE, VAT and pension.
- Confident to use various software.
- Good communication between work colleagues and clients.
- Responsible for the set up and processing of MTD.
- Working knowledge of processing of weekly/monthly payroll, but not essential.
- Assist with the preparation of financial accounts/sole traders/partnerships and limited companies.
Relevant Experience and attributes
- At least 2 years’ experience working in an accountancy practice, with experience of all of the responsibilities listed above.
- Experience in working against deadlines for submissions.
- Able to priorities and manage your own workload.
- Experience of using various cloud-based software including Quick books, Xero and Free agent.
- Good verbal and written communicator with a friendly but professional manner.
- Not afraid to ask questions if you don’t know the answers.
- Keen to learn and progress with the ability to take on board constructive criticism.
- Smart, professional appearance.
