We are looking for a LAND DRAINAGE OPERATIVE to join our team in the Lindsey Marsh area.
Salary: £36,872.16 to £37,504.48 (depending on experience).
Hours: 38 hours per week. Nine day working fortnight (76 hours over 2 weeks).
Overtime subject to workload.
Holidays - 23 days rising to 27 over five years.
All bank holidays and three additional statutory days.
Pension: Local Government Pension Scheme (defined benefit).
Vehicle provided for business use.
A vacancy has arisen for a Land Drainage Operative to join our team working across the Lindsey Marsh area, providing flood protection and water level management for local communities. The role will be based at our Strubby Depot near Alford, but will involve working on site across the district.
Duties include:
- Watercourse maintenance - relief driver (excavator driver/tractor and flail driver)
- General labouring and construction works
- Pumping station checks and general grounds maintenance
- Chainsaw and strimming operations
- Clearance of weed grids (mechanically and by hand)
- Piling and building of headwalls
- Workshop duties
- Fuel delivery
The ability to work on your own initiative in a positive, responsible and safe manner, and flexibility to cover our seasonal works plan is essential. A full driving licence is required.
The ideal candidate will have relevant experience, be familiar with the area and the work of an IDB, and experienced in the operation of plant and machinery. NPTC chainsaw, strimming and spraying qualifications would be an advantage.
The Board provides 24/7 emergency response and in the event of flooding or heavy rainfall, staff may be called upon to respond; this could involve working weekends and unsocial hours on occasion.
