Job Overview
The Quality and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Controller leads and develops a team of Quality Inspectors to ensure that Production operations and personnel consistently comply with applicable regulations, internal policies, and external standards defined by the Quality Assurance & Compliance department.
Duties Include
· Lead, support, and coordinate the activities of the Quality Inspection team, including:
- Allocation of inspection workloads and priorities across shifts/projects
- Oversight of in-process and final inspections
- Coaching and development of inspectors to ensure consistent standards
- Review and approval of inspection records and non-conformance reports
- Driving consistency in inspection methods, tools, and reporting
· Ensure Production teams comply with regulatory, safety, environmental, and quality standards set out by the Assurance & Compliance department, acting as a visible point of authority on the shop floor.
· Conduct routine inspections, audits, and compliance checks across the production environment
· Ensure that all shop floor documentation is completed and signed off correctly
. Assist the QA & SHE Manager/Assurance & Compliance department in the preparation and hosting of internal and external audits
· Ensure PDV & FAT events are completed on time and to the correct standards
· Verify that all incoming goods meet required documentation and compliance standards
· Perform internal audits on policies and processes, reporting findings and actively supporting root cause analysis and CAPA implementation.
· Conduct supplier quality audits to ensure compliance with company policies
Develop and maintain performance measures, metrics, and reports and drive continuous improvement
Experience
. NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent) or demonstrable practical experience in HSE management within a manufacturing/production environment
· Proven track record of implementing & enforcing safety and quality into a manufacturing/production environment.
· Experience of leading and developing a team of inspectors withing a manufacturing environment.
· Lead Auditor Qualification (or working towards).
· Strong knowledge of production processes, manufacturing techniques, and continuous improvement methodologies (lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
· Strong understanding of, UK and International HSE safety regulation, Environmental and compliance standards.
· Experience in a highly regulated industry (i.e. Defence, Civil Nuclear, Aerospace).
· Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change, influence stakeholders, and embed compliance into operational practices
Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
